Richmond police raided the Lion’s Den over the weekend and again yesterday.
On Saturday, narcotics officers confiscated 12 pounds of marijuana from the record store in the 300 block of East Grace Street. Police spokeswoman Cynthia Price said officers also discovered a cache of bootleg compact discs and DVDs in the store, in addition to $2,000 cash, and a handgun.
Price said the bust originally arose out of a report of an unsecured entrance to the store early Saturday afternoon.
The marijuana discovered in the store that day has a street value of close to $40,000, Price said.
Witnesses said police entered the building again yesterday, ramming their way through a rear entrance of the store. The results of their raid were not immediately known, but officers were seen carting out more CDs in addition to hardware for copying CDs.
Price said police have a warrant out for the arrest of the owner.
