Dr. Hornby Teaching Cannabis Chemistry At Hempology

Another guest speaker will come to the weekly UVSS Hempology 101 class to provide free, public education on Weds. Feb. 7, 2007 at 3:30 pm in #061 of the Elliot Building at the University of Victoria. Dr. Paul Hornby will be giving a lecture on the chemical structure of the cannabis plant and various methods used to extract the active cannabinoids. Dr. Hornby has been working with the cannabis plant for a long time. He was caught supplying medicine to the BC Compassion Club Society in Oct 2001 and Aug 2002 and received a 12 month conditional sentence and $1000 fine. He has a B.SC. degree in zoology, a M.SC. degree in biochemistry and a PhD in human pathology. He was the founder and president of Hedron Analytical Inc., a small company providing chemical analyses of herbal preparations. He has been granted authority by Health Canada for a laboratory that can legally analyze cannabis for it’s cannabinoid profile and chemical content. He is currently setting up a new lab in the basement of the Green Cross, a new medical cannabis distributor in Vancouver.
