CANNABIS DIGEST, COOKIE TRIAL AND 4/20
Victoria, B.C.: A press conference will be held at the home base of the Cannabis Buyers Clubs of Canada at 11am on Monday April 19 to announce the publication of the Cannabis Digest in a newspaper format, provide an update on the bakery trial that is going ahead after months of unexplained delay and discuss plans for the 420 celebrations the next day.
Transforming into a new format, the CANNABIS DIGEST has been published by the International Hempology 101 Society for about 5 years. Focused upon the medical uses of cannabis, the CANNABIS DIGEST is now Western Canada’s largest publication on the issues of prohibition, hemp and cannabis. The first issue of this quarterly newspaper will be available in stores on April 20.
When Owen Smith reported to court in January he fully expected to be charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cannabis resin, but when the day came and his name was not on the courthouse register it seemed that the raid on the bakery of the CBC of C was not going to result in a trial. Owen has since received, however, a new promise to appear in court with a second charge of possession for the purpose of trafficking added on. The court date is set for April 29, 2010.
Copies of the new CANNABIS DIGEST will be made available to the public on April 20. Often referred to as International Pot Smokers Day, April 20 has become a global celebration of the herb, with many cities around the world hosting day-long events that will peak in attendance at 4:20 pm. Nearly 1,500 people gathered last year in Centennial Square where even more are expected this year.
