INSANITY OVER HEMP
EDITOR: The recent arguments regarding marijuana don’t address the most important part of the topic. I am an alternative physician, vegetarian, medical journalist and strongly espouse super nutrition. With government insanity over hemp, citizens are denied their God-given liberty to grow a food of unparalleled power. Hemp seeds have the highest quality essential fatty acids of any known plant, with perfect proportion of omega 3 and 6 for human needs ( approximately 1:4 ). Their protein contains all the essential amino acids in ample amounts — crucial for a vegetarian — and easily digested. Hemp “waste” could be used for clothing, fiber, building materials and fuel, reducing reliance on petroleum and synthetics.
Currently, I must direct all interested to Canadian sources, since planting such easy to grow food in one’s back yard to eat, would lead to jail. How stupid can our society be?
Northern California could flourish growing nutritious food and natural fiber. Will government listen to and serve the people rather than itself and corporate interests? I have little interest in medical or drug properties of this family of plants. These uses are insignificant in consideration of these other benefits of hemp.
